Friday, October 3, 2025 Western Ave., Front Ave., and Murray St. will be closed during the Mattawan Consolidated Schools Homecoming Parade. This closure will begin on Western Ave. about 5:15 PM and roads will close and reopen as the parade progresses and passes locations along the route.
Road Closures and Detour Information
Replacing Water Main on Concord Ave between Webster and the Concord Tower. The Village of Mattawan is replacing the existing watermain and repaving a small stretch of Concord Ave. Dates of work: September 30th, 2025, through October 17th, 2025. Location: Concord Ave/PQ Ave is closed for through traffic between Webster and 3rd St. The Detour route will be 3rd St., P Ave./McGillen and Main St. Project Contact: Tom Anthony, tom@mattawanmi.com, 269-668-2300.
Beginning Monday, October 6, 2025 French Rd. will be closed to through traffic. From Main St. to 23rd there will only be one-way eastbound access. Bob-O-Links and Summer Hill (Rue) neighborhoods must detour out via 23rd to Red Arrow. French/O Ave will be completely closed both directions at the Village line.

EMERGENCY SIRENS
The Mattawan Fire Department has emergency sirens throughout the district for notification of an emergency. For a Fire, the siren is up and down 5 times. For a tornado warning, it is a single non-ascending or descending tone for three minutes. Testing of the siren takes place each day at noon. Its local economy is supported by a strong manufacturing base, including plastic products and pharmaceutical research & development. Its proximity to the Kalamazoo area just 7 miles away also lends to its economic strength. The Village offers small-town charm in the downtown area which features a shady village park and a row of unique shops and eating establishment.
