Road Closures and Detour Information
Front Ave. between Western and Silvergrass will have one-way alternating traffic with lights at both ends of the construction. Please be cautious and check for oncoming vehicles and directional traffic flows as you are exiting roads and driveways on to Front Ave. in this area.
Milling and Paving on Main St. north of I-94 will take place on July 15, 2025. Access to driveways along paving route will have intermittent closures restricting access to businesses and residences. Construction crews will assist with routing traffic to provide as much accessibility as possible.
Watermain installation has begun on Front Ave from Western to Glidden. There may be lane closures affecting travel in the area. This construction will be completed before the commencement of the school year.

EMERGENCY SIRENS
The Mattawan Fire Department has emergency sirens throughout the district for notification of an emergency. For a Fire, the siren is up and down 5 times. For a tornado warning, it is a single non-ascending or descending tone for three minutes. Testing of the siren takes place each day at noon. The mission of the Village of Mattawan government is to provide public services in an effective and efficient manner and to improve the quality of life for all of the residents and visitors in our community.
Mattawan is located on the eastern border of Van Buren County, easily accessible from I-94. Its local economy is supported by a strong manufacturing base, including plastic products and pharmaceutical research & development. Its proximity to the Kalamazoo area just 7 miles away also lends to its economic strength. The Village offers small-town charm in the downtown area which features a shady village park and a row of unique shops and eating establishment.
