Road Pothole Patching
DPW will be conducting pothole patching during the remainder of this week. Main St. and 60th will be the priorities, with other areas being worked on beginning Monday, May 5, 2025. Road Closures and Detour Information
Monday, May 19, 2025 A crew will be onsite to set up traffic control devices. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes — the center turn lane and the northbound lane. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 Pavement grinding will begin in the southbound lane in preparation for the water main replacement. We are doing our best to keep traffic disruptions as limited as possible. Food Truck Ordinance Information
Several changes were discussed during the Zoning and Ordinance Committee Meeting on May 8, 2025. An updated draft version of the ordinance proposal is available by clicking this link Updated Food Truck Ordinance Draft. The Village Council will be reviewing this draft for an approval vote on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 7:00 PM. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Village Hall located at 24221 Front Ave. There will be an opportunity for the public to speak on this issue during comments from the public on any agenda item. If you wish to submit any written comment you may do so by emailing offices@mattawanmi.com or dropping off a letter in person at the Village Hall. EMERGENCY SIRENS
The Mattawan Fire Department has emergency sirens throughout the district for notification of an emergency. For a Fire, the siren is up and down 5 times. For a tornado warning, it is a single non-ascending or descending tone for three minutes. Testing of the siren takes place each day at noon. The Village of Mattawan will be holding a Policy and Personnel Committee meeting on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 5:00 PM to discuss salary positions from department heads, HSA policy changes, and 401 provider changes. This meeting is open to the public and will be held at Village Hall, 24221 Front Ave. Call the Village Office at 269-668-2128 with any questions.
The Village of Mattawan will be holding a special meeting of the Planning Committee on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 7:00 PM to review the site plan submitted by Antwerp Township – Mattawan Fire Department. The Village of Mattawan will accept letters of interest for one (1) open seat on the Village Planning Commission Council, term ending November 2028. Planning Commission meets the third Wednesday of February, May, August and November at 7:00 PM. All interested persons should send a letter of interest along with your qualifications and reason for wanting to serve on the Village Planning Commission to Village Hall at 24221 Front Ave. or by email to offices@mattawanmi.com.
